GetYourGuide fees for boat charter companies, explained (2026)
Last checked October 15, 2026
The short answer
- GetYourGuide sells tours and activities; charter companies list private boat trips there. It charges you a commission: a percentage of the price the customer pays. The rate is in your supplier account, varies by country and isn't published. In 2025, Arival reported some operators moving from 20% to 30%.
- There is no cost to list. GetYourGuide pays the card fees on what customers pay.
- You are paid once a month for the trips that took place the month before, or twice a month for 2% more commission.
- Customers can cancel with a full refund up to 24 hours before the start. If you cancel without a valid reason such as unsafe weather, GetYourGuide charges you 25% of the price.
- Your price on GetYourGuide must be the same as or better than on your own website.
- Many charter companies keep their listing for the customers it brings, and take direct bookings on their own booking page as well.
How GetYourGuide charges
The commission
GetYourGuide's supplier terms say: "GetYourGuide's Commission is a percentage of the Retail Price for a Booking, as specified in the Supplier Account." The retail price is what the customer pays, taxes and fees included. You pay the commission on each completed booking.
GetYourGuide doesn't publish the rate. Its supplier site says: "Rates may vary depending on your country of operation — the exact amount will be shared after you sign up." The terms also ask you to keep your rate confidential.
So read the rate in your supplier account before you list, and check it on the commission invoice GetYourGuide issues each payment period. The commission is exclusive of tax: where the law puts VAT on it, GetYourGuide adds the VAT.
When the rate changes
In June 2025, Arival reported that GetYourGuide had told some operators their commission would rise from 20% to 30%, effective 3 July 2025. A GetYourGuide spokesperson said the "targeted commission adjustment affects a small number of supply partners". Some operators had it reversed after contacting support.
The current terms, dated 1 October 2026, require at least four weeks' notice by email and allow one increase per calendar year, except for regulatory or major cost increases. If an increase is 20% or more of your current rate, you may end the agreement within 30 days. The terms' own example: from 25%, the new rate "may not exceed 30%".
Paying for more visibility
GetYourGuide's ranking weighs past bookings, reviews, price and cancellations, and also "the revenue generated for GetYourGuide from the Product Offer (including the Commission rate)". You can ask to raise your commission rate "as part of its marketing investment". The terms say this "may have a positive effect on ranking, but does not guarantee any position or an increase in the overall number of Bookings".
When you get paid
GetYourGuide collects the customer's payment for you and pays you out:
- Once a month. By the fifth business day of each month, for completed bookings of the month before. A charter on 10 June is paid in early July.
- Twice a month. The help center gives two payment runs, on the 5th and the 20th, at "+2% extra commission rate on top of your current contractual commission rate".
GetYourGuide pays the card and banking fees on the customer's payment, and its own bank's fee for sending your payout. Fees charged by your bank, or by an intermediary bank, are yours. Payouts can wait until at least €50 is due.
When a booking is cancelled
By the customer. Customers cancel through GetYourGuide, not with you. Up to 24 hours before the start, they get a full refund. After that, or if they don't show up, the booking is non-refundable and is treated as completed for payment. GetYourGuide may still refund a late cancellation for serious reasons, such as illness or a cancelled flight.
By you. If you cancel without a valid reason, the customer gets a full refund and GetYourGuide is entitled to a cancellation fee of 25% of the retail price. On a €1,000 charter, that's €250. GetYourGuide may reduce or waive it if you offer an equivalent trip on the same date.
A cancellation is valid only in a force majeure situation. The terms include "adverse weather conditions that render performance of the Service unsafe or impracticable". Tell GetYourGuide's customer service straight away; it may ask for evidence. The customer is refunded, and no fee applies.
The price rule
The terms say your "Retail Prices, Services Availability, amenities, and restrictions" on GetYourGuide "will be equal to or better than those made available through Supplier's or its Affiliates' own online shops".
- Your own booking page can't be cheaper than your GetYourGuide listing. Plan your prices with the commission inside them: GetYourGuide's help center says "The listed price should include the GetYourGuide commission."
- The price must include everything the trip needs. You can't collect required fees on board, such as a skipper or fuel the trip can't run without. Truly optional extras, like drinks, can still be sold.
GetYourGuide may sell your trip below your price, but then it pays the discount out of its commission.
A worked example
A private half-day boat trip with a skipper, listed at €1,000 per group. The figures below are an estimate: they apply 20% and 30%, the rates Arival reported in 2025, to the retail price. Your own rate is in your supplier account.
| GetYourGuide | At 20% | At 30% |
|---|---|---|
| What the customer pays | €1,000 | €1,000 |
| GetYourGuide's commission | −€200 | −€300 |
| Card fees | Paid by GetYourGuide | Paid by GetYourGuide |
| What you receive, paid monthly | €800 | €700 |
| What you receive, paid twice a month (+2%) | €780 | €680 |
The same charter, booked on your own booking page with Noliser:
| Noliser | Guests pay the 5% | You pay the 5% |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | €1,000 | €1,000 |
| Noliser's 5% | €50, added to what the guest pays | €50, from your payout |
| What the guest pays | €1,050 | €1,000 |
| What you receive | €1,000, less Stripe's card processing fee | €950, less Stripe's card processing fee |
Stripe's card processing fees depend on the card and the country. They apply to every card payment you take with Stripe.
The two aren't the same service. GetYourGuide brings you customers who search its site and app. Noliser doesn't: it takes bookings and payments from customers who already come to you.
What you get for the commission
GetYourGuide's terms and supplier pages point to what the commission pays for:
- Reach. GetYourGuide lists "200,000+ activities" in "37 languages and currencies", serving "86% of all traveler nationalities", and works with "2,500+ affiliates like Emirates, Expedia, Hilton and more".
- Marketing at its cost. It promotes your trips in search ads, display ads and email, and the terms say it "will bear the cost".
- Payments. It takes the customer's card payment and pays the card fees.
- Support. Its customer service handles complaints, rebookings and cancellations.
- No listing cost. "There is no cost for adding and maintaining an activity on the platform."
Keeping availability right
The terms ask you to keep availability "up to date and accurate at all times". A cancellation caused by wrong availability counts as your failure, so the 25% fee can apply.
GetYourGuide gives you two ways:
- By hand, in the supplier portal. Under Manage > Availability, you change capacity or block slots. Blocking a slot doesn't cancel bookings already made.
- Through a reservation system. GetYourGuide connects to reservation systems and channel managers through its API, and says you can choose from "hundreds of API integrations". Its help center names Bókun, Rezdy, Ventrata, bookingkit, FareHarbor, Regiondo and others.
Its help center describes these API connections, not iCal calendar links. Noliser has no GetYourGuide connection, so the two calendars don't sync. If you use both:
- when a GetYourGuide booking comes in, block that boat and time in Noliser with Block time;
- when a Noliser booking comes in, block the slot in the GetYourGuide supplier portal.
Or list only some boats on GetYourGuide and run them from its portal alone.
When a listing is worth it, and when direct bookings make more sense
A listing is worth it when:
- you want visitors who plan their trip on GetYourGuide's site and app;
- you have empty slots you can't fill yourself;
- you'd rather leave payments and customer service to someone else.
Direct bookings make more sense when:
- customers already find you: on Google, Instagram, in your harbour, or through hotels;
- returning customers book you again each season;
- you sell custom trips that don't fit a fixed listing;
- you want to set your own payment and cancellation terms.
Many charter companies do both.
Using both: your listing and your own booking page
You can keep your GetYourGuide listing and take direct bookings on your own booking page with Noliser.
- One price to know. Noliser charges 5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. See Pricing.
- Your money, your account. Guests pay into your own Stripe account.
- Your calendar. Block GetYourGuide's bookings in Noliser with Block time, so your booking page never offers a boat that's already out.
Keep your booking page price at or above your GetYourGuide price, as GetYourGuide's terms ask.
Questions
What commission does GetYourGuide charge?
A percentage of the retail price, shown in your supplier account. It varies by country and isn't published. In 2025, Arival reported some operators moving from 20% to 30%.
What if I cancel because of the weather?
Weather that makes the trip unsafe or impracticable counts as force majeure. Tell GetYourGuide's customer service straight away. The customer is refunded and the 25% cancellation fee doesn't apply.
Can I invite GetYourGuide customers to book with me directly next time?
No. GetYourGuide's terms forbid encouraging bookings outside its platform and sending marketing to its customers. Keep those customers on GetYourGuide.
Does Noliser replace GetYourGuide?
No. Noliser is your own booking page, booking links and booking management. It doesn't bring you customers the way a marketplace does, and it has no GetYourGuide connection: block GetYourGuide's bookings in Noliser with Block time.
What does Noliser cost?
5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. Bookings you enter yourself carry no fee.
