Click&Boat fees for charter companies, explained (2026)
Last checked October 15, 2026
The short answer
- Click&Boat charges you a commission: a percentage of the price shown on its site. Its help center says the commission is "generally between 15% and 25%", depending on your agreement with Click&Boat.
- The renter also pays a service fee at checkout. It varies, and is usually around 2–3% of the price. It doesn't come out of what you receive.
- As a professional, you keep your own payment terms. Click&Boat takes its commission from the first payment the renter makes.
- Click&Boat's terms ask professionals not to price higher on Click&Boat than in public elsewhere, your own website included.
- If the renter cancels, Click&Boat keeps its service fees and commission.
- Many charter companies keep their listing for the customers it brings, and take direct bookings on their own booking page as well.
How Click&Boat charges
Your side: the commission
Click&Boat's terms define the commission as "a commission percentage included in the Owner Price and owed by the Owner in exchange for the service". The next sentence reads: "This amount may vary depending on the contractual agreements between Click&Boat and the Owner."
Its help center says the same. The commission is paid by the owner. It is "a percentage of the rate displayed on the website", and it "depends on the agreements made between Click&Boat and the owner".
Another help center article gives the usual range: "Click&Boat's commission can vary depending on the specific agreements with boat owners and is generally between 15% and 25%."
So there is no single rate to quote. Two practical steps:
- Ask Click&Boat for your commission rate in writing before you list.
- Check it on your invoices. Click&Boat issues an invoice for its commission, which you can download from your account.
Older press gives other figures. In September 2014, Click&Boat told TourMag that it took 4% from owners and 11% from renters on each reservation, and that "we take a 15% commission on each transaction". Those are 2014 figures, not today's: plan with the 15–25% range above.
The renter's side: the service fee
The renter pays Click&Boat a service fee, added at checkout. Click&Boat's terms describe it as "platform operating costs that allow us to provide services such as customer assistance during your trip", VAT included. Its help center calls it a booking fee and says it "represents a very small percentage of the total rental amount".
The rate isn't published and varies from one booking to another. In checkouts we looked at in October 2026, it came to around 2–3% of the rental price.
The service fee is paid by the renter, on top of the rental price. Your commission is taken from the rental price itself.
When you get paid
For a professional, Click&Boat's terms say:
- Payment terms follow your own conditions. The renter may pay in two instalments if your policy allows it.
- Click&Boat transfers your price to you and deducts its commission from the first instalment.
- A renter asks you, not Click&Boat, for a refund.
- Your own rental contract prevails over Click&Boat's standard one.
Private owners are paid differently: within 24 hours after the rental starts, unless the renter files a complaint before 2:00 PM on the handover day.
When a booking is cancelled
Click&Boat's help center says: "Service fees & commission (up to 25% of the purchase price) are non-refundable if the tenant cancels."
If you cancel because of the weather, the renter gets the service fees and commission back as a voucher, valid for 90 days.
The price rule for professionals
The terms say: "Professional Owners undertake to ensure that their Owner's Price does not exceed the public price displayed on any other platform, publication, or on their own website."
In practice, you can't add the commission on top of your Click&Boat price to make up for it. Plan your prices with the commission inside them.
A worked example
A full-day charter with a skipper, shown at €1,000 on Click&Boat. The figures below are an estimate: they apply Click&Boat's published 15–25% range to the displayed rate. Your own rate is in your agreement with Click&Boat.
| Click&Boat | At 15% | At 25% |
|---|---|---|
| Rental price | €1,000 | €1,000 |
| Service fee paid by the renter, about 2–3% | €20–€30 | €20–€30 |
| What the renter pays, about | €1,020–€1,030 | €1,020–€1,030 |
| Click&Boat's commission | −€150 | −€250 |
| What you receive, about | €850 | €750 |
The service fee is the renter's, on top of the rental price. It doesn't change what you receive.
The same charter, booked on your own booking page with Noliser:
| Noliser | Guests pay the 5% | You pay the 5% |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | €1,000 | €1,000 |
| Noliser's 5% | €50, added to what the guest pays | €50, from your payout |
| What the guest pays | €1,050 | €1,000 |
| What you receive | €1,000, less Stripe's card processing fee | €950, less Stripe's card processing fee |
Stripe's card processing fees depend on the card and the country. They apply to every card payment you take with Stripe.
The two aren't the same service. Click&Boat brings you customers who search its site. Noliser doesn't: it takes bookings and payments from customers who already come to you.
What you get for the commission
Click&Boat's own pages point to what the commission pays for:
- Customers you wouldn't reach alone. Click&Boat lists boats across Europe and beyond, in several languages, and calls itself "the world's biggest boating community". In 2020 it reported 45,000 boats and a community of one million users. In an older interview, it said 40% of its customers came from abroad.
- Help with your listings. Click&Boat says a team of dedicated advisors helps professionals optimise their listings.
- Payments. Click&Boat describes a "fast, flexible and secure payment system to manage payment, including security deposits". Renters pay by card through its payment providers, and Click&Boat pays you by bank transfer.
- Support. The renter's service fee covers customer assistance during the trip.
- Insurance options. Click&Boat offers owners daily all-risk insurance through its partner, and renters optional extra cover.
Click&Boat has grown by buying other platforms too. In July 2020 it bought Nautal, then the second marketplace in Europe according to its press release.
When a listing is worth it, and when direct bookings make more sense
A listing is worth it when:
- you need customers you can't reach yet, such as visitors from other countries;
- your boats have empty days you can't fill yourself;
- you don't have your own booking and payment setup.
Direct bookings make more sense when:
- customers already find you: on Google, Instagram, in your harbour, or through hotels;
- returning customers book you again each season;
- you want to set your own payment and cancellation terms in one place;
- you want to keep the commission on the bookings you could have taken yourself.
Many charter companies do both.
Using both: your listing and your own booking page
You can keep your Click&Boat listing and take direct bookings on your own booking page with Noliser.
- One price to know. Noliser charges 5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. See Pricing.
- Your money, your account. Guests pay into your own Stripe account.
- No double bookings. Noliser syncs each boat's calendar with Click&Boat both ways, through iCal links. A Click&Boat booking blocks the time on your Noliser calendar, and a Noliser booking blocks it on Click&Boat. Other platforms work differently: Samboat imports calendars but doesn't export its own, and Getmyboat offers no calendar link, so check each one.
Calendar links refresh on a schedule, not at the same second. If two bookings still overlap, Noliser shows a possible double booking so you can sort it out with the guest.
Questions
What commission does Click&Boat charge?
Its help center says the commission is generally between 15% and 25%, and depends on its agreement with each owner. Ask for your rate in writing.
Who pays the service fee?
The renter, at checkout. It varies and is usually around 2–3% of the rental price. Click&Boat's terms call it the service fee, its help center the booking fee. It doesn't come out of what you receive: Click&Boat takes your commission from the rental price.
Does Click&Boat refund its commission if the renter cancels?
No. Its help center says service fees and commission are non-refundable if the renter cancels. If you cancel because of the weather, the renter gets them back as a voucher valid for 90 days.
Can I charge more on Click&Boat to cover the commission?
Not above your public price. Click&Boat's terms ask professionals to keep their Click&Boat price at or below the price they show elsewhere, including their own website.
Can I invite Click&Boat customers to book with me directly next time?
Click&Boat's terms ask professionals not to bypass the site to sign customers they met there. Keep those customers on Click&Boat.
Does Noliser replace Click&Boat?
No. Noliser is your own booking page, booking links and booking management. It doesn't bring you customers the way a marketplace does. It works next to your listings and keeps their calendars in sync.
What does Noliser cost?
5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. Bookings you enter yourself carry no fee.
